River (as in "Old Man River") came to us from Paws & Claws rescue far away in Minnesota. A volunteer from their rescue made the long trip to Omaha to get him to our volunteers Larry and Bonnie.
River was 14 years old and had many serious health issues along with being deaf and partially blind. Having been with animal control even before Paws & Claws, River had been caged for many months but he seemed to have an incredible personality and lots of spirit!!
We felt he deserved some time to soak up the sun, smell the green grass, and enjoy some really good food as long as his pain levels could be kept at a manageable place. Our Volunteers Larry & Bonnie of Gretna, NE most graciously decided to keep River at their home and we just can't thank them enough!!
River passed away just a few short weeks later and the gift Larry and Bonnie gave him of their time and love was priceless. This dog was LOVED. God bless you River and we hope you are happy and well and romping in the grass at Rainbow Bridge!
