I started crocheting somewhere around 11 years of age – taught in part by my grandmothers, one of my grandma's friends, and my mom. All of them could crochet incredible doilies and scarf edgings and made many beautiful things that I am privileged to own today. About 10 years ago I developed a neuromuscular disorder called Myasthenia Gravis and a blood disorder called Antiphospholipid Syndrome, which makes me develop blood clots. The docs can't decide whether it was the MG or the APS that made me have constant double vision at certain distances, but whatever caused it, it messed up my ability to crochet while reading from patterns! Frustrated, I started "doing my own thing" and the result is what you see in my designs.
I think my favorite thing to work with is thread, but I also love beautiful yarns. I have designed everything from outdoor flags to dog sweaters and about everything in between!
I sell my crochet patterns to benefit the veterinary expenses of my MIniature Schnauzer rescue, Sheila's Schnauzies. I have rescued 27 dogs since 2002 and we survive solely out of my pocket and by the donations we receive.
